Amber Jarzynka-Schmigel MS, LIMHP – Clinical Director

Amber is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP). Amber obtained her Masters of Science in Clinical Counseling degree from Bellevue University in 2012 and her BA in Counseling from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. She has worked at the highest level of care for several years in both In-patient (hospital) treatment and residential treatment centers to serve children through adults struggling with behavioral disorders and severe and persistent mental health disorders. Amber is trained in Parent/Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and is currently obtaining training through RSAFE to provide therapy to those impacted by sexual abuse. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and playing sports.

Julia Downey, MS, LMHP, NCC – Director of Day Program / Therapist

Julia is a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She obtained her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with minors in biology and psychology from Doane University. Her clinical and therapeutic experience includes day rehabilitation and community/outpatient treatment. Julia is trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) with a focus on attachment as well as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), working with children, adolescents, and adults with trauma. Based from a wellness perspective, Julia focuses on holistically and collaboratively working with clients to help obtain optimal mental health. In her spare time, Julia enjoys watching and playing sports, listening to ‘80s rock music, cooking and baking, and spending time with family and her pug, Ralph.


Angelaura Ewing, MA, LMHP – Program Therapist

Angelaura is a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP). Angelaura has approximately seven years of working in the field of mental health across various settings. Through her work, Angelaura has gained experience working with children and adults, presenting with significant behavioral disorders and severe and persistent mental health disorders. She has a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in English, also from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Angelaura is trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Angelaura enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and “fur-babies”.

Taylor Ainsworth, PLMHP, PCMSW – Program Therapist

Taylor Ainsworth is a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP) and Provisionally Certified Social Worker (PCMSW). She is a 2021 Master Social Work graduate from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and also holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Special Education and Art from College of Saint Mary. Those who know her best would describe her as empathic, kind, helpful, genuine and strong. She is passionate about many areas of practice including children, families, behaviors, trauma and grief. Her goal is to empower her clients to find their voice, feel seen, heard, and important while building a better relationship with themselves and others. Taylor uses a combination of approaches to best fit the needs of her clients while utilizing a strength-based approach, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), techniques from trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), and techniques from parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT). In her free time, Taylor loves spending time with her family and friends, painting/crafting, watching sports and movies and shopping at local stores.
